Well Spent

I am always running short on time and money. However, recently, I made a small investment of both and received a very large return. After work, I picked up the Morgan~aka Angel Baby~and we hit the "dollar" theatre (translate into $5 each) for New Moon. Let me veer off topic for just a minute and say that the majority of movies based on novels do not meet my expectations if I have read the book . I am a nerd and love to read and always have. I really did not plan on liking this series of books going in. I thought it would be silly and high schoolish. I was happily surprised by Stephenie Meyer's writing and her ability to bring these characters to life for me. She made me want to know more. I devoured the 4 books in just under 2 weeks. It wouldn't have taken so long if I didn't require sleep :) Back to the movie. I was very disappointed in the first, Twilight, so I did not get my hopes up for New Moon. I was pleasantly surprised. I still don't think "that girl" can act to save her life, but Taylor (?) playing Jacob more than made up for it. However, the last part of the night was talking with Morgan and enjoying her company one on one sitting at a Waffle House (which here in the South is gold!). Typically we are surrounded by chaos and can barely hear each other speak. I was totally reminded of how much I like her in addition to loving her because she is mine. I hope I can make such wise investments more often with her and all my cherished ones!

I am a quitter!

I am not so good at posting, am I? I have lots of great ideas for posts, but they don't stick around long enough to be transformed into the eloquent prose I hope for. I actually do have a decent post written down in my handy dandy notebook, but forget to have it with me when I have the opportunity to get it on here.

I did have another resignation moment. I am positive I shouted my absconding of the throne loud enough for all the neighbors to hear, through tears and gagging. I did this as I had to remove a very large, very ugly, dead, headless- thanks to the stupid dog- snake from my front porch without any assistance from my husband who had the audacity to be at work. At my house, snake absolutely falls under his job description-dead or alive. I had actually ran across (ok-over) this particular snake the night before in the road as it was heading toward my house. It had already met with misfortune, so I left it there. However, our playful pup Roz found this a most enjoyable play toy. I was alerted to its presence on the front porch the next morning from the girls' squeals of disgust as they went to catch the bus. So, SuperMom that I am {snickering}, I assured them in my most calm, soothing Mommy voice, that I would handle the situation . As soon as they were out of sight and hearing range, I proceeded to gag and with tears in my eyes, immediately dialed the Captain to share my horror. Roz snatched up said snake and shook it at me, thinking I was in the mood to play. She must have misunderstood my jig of squemishishness and shrieks of abhorrence as interest. After much berating her using VERY un-Mommy like language, she finally put the damn thing down, giving me a moment to figure out how to dispose of the nastiness without actually using my hand or any other part of me. The whole time, the Captain is calmly and nicely with no discernable laughter, listening on the phone and telling me it will be ok and he understands my urge to kill the dog and my utter and complete hatred of snakes. Anyway, I managed to get the headless reptile scooped into an empty coffee can (I knew I was keeping those for a reason) using the pole from my Swiffer (knew I loved that thing for a reason). After only overshooting my aim once accompanied by more gagging and much loud screaming that I didn't want to be the adult anymore and that I hate {insert very bad word} snakes and hate {insert another bad word} dogs, I somehow managed to get the lid on the can and left it sitting where it was for dear Captain to dispose of. I then yelled at the dog some more while gagging and crying. This must have been too much stress for the pup as she promptly regurgitated the missing snake head at my feet. Then it was off to work I went. Still, no one took my resignation seriously. What's a girl gotta do to quit around here?

Yeppers, indeed. I am not sure who thought me being a grown up was a good idea anyway. An inconsolable baby at 2:30 AM after already being up and down the beginning of the night? Up and down for a week? I really just wanted to cry myself. Why were these up all night gigs so much easier when I was 17 or even 26? Thank God for the Captain (dear hubby) who suffers right along side me, bless his bones, even though he has to be at work at 5:30AM.
On the upside, I have a new outlook on soccer. Or at least I did at 2:30 in the morning. I haven't tested this theory during actual daylight, primetime or coherent thought times yet, so I guess we shall see. Speaking of coherent, I have managed to put post #2 up which is a real accomplishment since blogging tends to require coherent thoughts translated into complete sentences. For me, those can be few and far between.

Ladies and gentlemen...Start your engines

I passed the 10,000 pages of other people's blogs read milestone today {according to my Google Reader}, I decided to quit with the blog envy and attempt one of my own. I have been blog stalking for a while now and have been moved to tears, shaken with laughter, and just generally entertained. Even though most of these unsuspecting bloggers have no inkling I am skulking through their posts, some seem like friends I have known a while and love to visit as often as possible. I look forward to grabbing my coffee and sitting a spell with these amazing people who have invited us into their lives. While my blog has no delusions of grandeur, I do think it will be a fun way to document my family and hopefully spark some of the creativity I am sorely missing. So whether I am the only one to see this or if I mesmerize the masses, I'm off.....
